Home school is a very good way to educate your children teenagers, and adults. As an adult whatever age you are, you can do this at home even if you work full time, and you have a family to take care of. We give you as much time as you need to finish the assignments at your own pace when it is convenient for you to work on it. Powerschool is our new tool to use for parents and students to check attendance and grades.
There is no time pressure for you to finish in a certain length of time, and you do not have to find the time in your busy schedule to sit in classes at school. Home-schooled students can enter public school at any time but should be aware that most districts have policies and procedures in place to assess the mastery level of courses that students in home schools have taken. The results of the assessment may be used for grade placement or award of credit or both. Students transferring from home schools should be afforded the same treatment as students transferring from unaccredited private schools. TEA recommendations on appropriate placement assessments are included in the Commissioner's Home School Policy Letter. First, there is no home schooling statute in the state of Texas, but there is an alternative schooling statute. The HISD Virtual School Department, and the HISD Federal and State Compliance Department have developed a program that provides adult students a second chance at earning a high school diploma. Students have access to their courses 24 hours a day, seven days a week; this program is only available to previous Houston ISD students.
